Special Warnings For Relenza

Relenza refers to a class of medications called neuraminidase inhibitors and is directed to treat illnesses due to influenza virus in people from 7 years and older. It is recommended to take this medicine with caution. Pay attention to the following instructions:

  • As a rule Relenza is not recommended to be used by people with chronic respiratory disease such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease because of the risk of side effects and lack of effectiveness.
  • To achieve the effective results with Relenza you must take it as soon as possible after coming into contact with the influenza virus.
  • Relenza medication should not be used as a treatment method for flu-like illnesses caused by any virus different from influenza A and B (for example, common cold). It should be used only for the treatment of flu infections. Flu is considered a more serious illness than a simple cold, especially for elderly people or people with weakened immune system.
  • Taking Relenza pay attention to the reaction of your body to the medicine. If you report such signs as shortness of breath, swelling of eyelids, face, or lips, or a skin rash stop taking the drug and address to a health care provider.
  • If after several days of treatment with Relenza you don’t notice any improvements in your health state or you feel even worse, stop taking the drug, as it has no positive effect on your state. Contact your physician.
